Christmas Greetings

We would like to wish all students, their families and everyone a joyous Christmas and a happy, healthy and propserous New Year. We recently had the Double Dragon club Christmas party and it was a lot of fun for all of us, especially for the kids with plenty of dancing, games, singing, food and socialising. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents for helping to decorate, bringing desserts and joining in on the fun. I would also like to thank you all for your support throughout the whole year and for working together to make it a great year.
During the Christmas party, we had a presentation of awards. Jennifer and Peter won the awards for the 'best performers' of the year and Victoria and Adrian won the 'best spirit' awards. Congratulations and well deserved!

With the Christmas holidays coming up, the last training session will be at the Kingsford dojo on 1 December 2011, and the club will be closed for the whole of December and will reopen 3 January 2012. The Hurstville dojo will be open during December (except for boxing day - 26 December) with the last training session for the year on 28 December 2011. It will be closed during January and reopen on 1 February 2012. Happy and safe holidays to all!
S.K.I.A N.S.W 2011 State Championship

I would like to congratulate the NSW Committee for organising a well run championship at a great venue. Hopefully we can secure the same venue for the next events. Most of all, I would like to congratulate all my students for their courage, spirit and good karate etiquette, as well their families for their tireless support. Thank you to my senior students for coaching and supporting the juniors during the competition. Lucas, our youngest competitor of 5 and a half years, won a gold medal in kata and silver in team kata and shows a lot of potential for the future. Well done Lucas!

We are thrilled to have Victoria back in training and her fighting spirit showed on the competition day. Congratulations on winning 2 silver medals and we wish her more success at the Nationals in Tasmania. We have about 5 students going to Tasmania to compete and all of us from Double Dragon wish them the very best.
Overall, we had 38 competitors and while I would like to list everyone's individual medals, it would be too long a list. Our students won 42 medals in total, 19 gold, 17 silver and 6 bronze. The students' hard work has paid off and everyone competing gave 100% on the day. I would also like to mention all our beginners and first time competitors for their enthusiasm during training and the competition. We have some students who didn't come up with medals, but in my eyes you are all champions already by participating in the competition and showing such great spirit. It's not just about winning medals, it's a great learning experience and very courageous to even step up on those mats on the day and compete in kata and kumite. I am so proud of you all. Congratulations.
